How do I post an ad?

To post an ad to TxtToAd using your web browser on a pc or other device..

1. Take a photo (or photos) and make them available to whichever email system you use on your pc or device

2. Email the ad including photo(s) to, putting the title of the ad in the subject, preceded by the word "TxtToAd" and the description of the ad in the body of the email. Try to include as much info as possible in the body of the email - price, shipping info, special info etc.* Remember that all photos and text sent in a single email will form part of a SINGLE AD.

3. If this is the first time you have used TxtToAd from that cellphone, in response to your email you will receive an email from TxtToAd containing:

your email address and a generated password

4. If required, you can use that email address and password to get access to the TxtToAd site from
any web browser (whether on a cellphone or a computer).

5. On the site, you can add more information, such as Price, Shipping Info, Tax info, Payment info (e.g. do you take checks/cash/credit cards), Location info. You can also modify the original ad and text/photos.

6. Note that any responses to your ad will be via email (we send emails to the email address from which the ad was posted). Thus, there is no need to post your phone number or other contact information in the body of the email. However, you are welcome to do so at your own risk.

7. If you ever wish to update the ad you sent us, simply send another email with the same subject (title) so we know you are updating that same ad, from the same email address. The new email will replace the old one.

8. If you ever wish to delete the ad you sent us, send another email from the same cellphone/device with the same subject except that it should be preceded by "TxtToAd Delete". This will delete your ad.

*Power Users Tips

SensiTag technology allows you to easily enter identification information into your ad allowing for power searches by users later. For example the above is a great subject for your email containing your ad:

TxtToAd Faberware Coffee Maker - ($15) Kennesaw, GA

SensiTag will recognize this Subject in your email as the Title of an Ad for TxtToAd to publish because it starts with "TxtToAd" (without this tag at the front of your subject, your email will NOT be published as an ad, it will assumed to be an email, not an ad publication).

SensiTag will also assume that anything in the Subject (Title) of your email (ad) contained between parentheses is the PRICE information.

SensiTag will also assume that anything AFTER the parentheses is location information in the form City, State.

Note that only 2 char abbreviations of State names is recognized by SensiTag.

Note that there must be a space after the price and a comma and a space after the City. There must also be NOTHING after the State.

Within the Body of your email (which is used for your ad Description) the following tags are recognized by SensiTag:

pr:$10:pr - anything between pr: and :pr within the body/description is assumed to be the price. Note that if price was already Sensed within the Subject/Title, the former overrides the latter. With any SensiTag, the first one found is the one that overrides any found after. Note that SensiTags found in the Body/Description will be removed from the Description by SensiTag and added to the appropriate fields in the system to enable power searching.
sh:Buyer pays all shipping costs:sh - anything found between sh: and :sh is assumed to be shipping information
ct:Atlanta:ct - ct: :ct represents city information
st:GA:st- st: :st represents state information
z:30067:z - z: :z represents zip code info
t:6%:t - t: :t represents (sales) tax info
qt:2:qt - quantity
rp:No refunds or exchanges:rp - refund policy info
pt:Items must be paid for in full via Paypal:pt - payment terms info
tg:antique, dresser - tag info, note that if any tag is a category, the ad will also be added to that category on the website

Note in order to maintain compatibility with craigslist ads, the system also recognizes that Location: is followed by location info (in the format City, State or simply a US ZipCode).

e.g Location: Marietta, GA

or Location: 30067

Note that again, if the State and City information has already been gleaned earlier in the processing of an ad (in the subject / title or earlier in the description, then the Location information will be ignored).
